iFi Audio iPhono3 Black Label Phono Stage
“my first impression was that the iPhono3 was unbelievably silent. Though my Aqvox phono stage is fairly quiet, there’s a bit of hum when I turn the volume up. But with the iPhono3? Nothing. With it set to 60dB of gain, the noise floor was below that of my tubed preamp. This is important: The tiny iPhono3 and its Power X wall wart were not only as quiet as my Aqvox, they were on a par with the Constellation Andromeda phono stage I reviewed last year. The Constellation retails for $19,900, or precisely 19.919919 times more than the iPhono3.”

iFi iPhono 3 Black Label Phono Stage
“There was a sense power in bottom end that I’d never heard from this LP before… Tried again with the iPhono2. Sounded beautiful, just like it always did. Switched back to the iPhono3 and, what can I say, it was like I was listening to a different pressing… It wasn’t just the bass, the iPhono3 was getting more of everything off that LP. It was like comparing a standard issue LP vs a super audiophile quality 180-gram edition.”

“I’d been auditioning the Gala Gold LE using the CH Precision P1/X1 ($50,000+) so was expecting a big letdown but I didn’t get one! ”
